Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Vimy is built by Moruk Labs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

We collect minimal data necessary to provide the service. This may include usage analytics and crash reports.

How We Use Your Information

Data Storage

Your notes are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers.

Third-Party Services

We use Apple's analytics platform. Please review Apple's Privacy Policy for more information.

Android Launch Analytics

On Android, analytics is optional and off until you consent. After consent, Vimy sends launch information over HTTPS to our first-party service at ping.moruk.dev to understand app use. You can decline or withdraw analytics consent in Settings and continue using the notes editor.

These launch records are pseudonymous, rather than anonymous: they include a random identifier stored on your device, device type and model, operating system and version, app version and OTA update identifier, previous launch time, whether notes already exist, when a rating prompt was shown, and subscription-status and production-status flags. The service also receives the IP address used for the request. Note titles, note text, and typed commands are not included; your notes stay on your device.

The current Android release does not display ads or offer in-app purchases. Its launch analytics is sent to Moruk Labs, not to Firebase Analytics or PostHog. This Android processing is separate from the other mobile integrations described above.

Android Update Recovery

Separately from optional launch analytics, the current Android release can request app updates over HTTPS through Expo when recovering from certain early fatal errors. Recovery requests include a random installation identifier (EAS Client ID), app and update information, and, when available, a previously recorded fatal exception and identifiers of recent updates that failed to launch. We use this information to deliver working app updates and recover from update failures. Expo processes these requests on our behalf. This recovery processing operates independently of the analytics consent setting.
